SendGrid Integration

About SendGrid

SendGrid (by Twilio) is a cloud-based email delivery platform used by businesses for transactional email, marketing campaigns, and email automation. If your application sends emails through SendGrid — password resets, order confirmations, notifications — monitoring SendGrid's status is important for your customer experience.

What Alert24 Monitors

Alert24 tracks the following SendGrid services through the official SendGrid Status page:

  • Web API — The REST API used to send emails programmatically
  • SMTP Service — SMTP relay for sending emails
  • Marketing Campaigns — Email marketing campaign delivery
  • Event Webhook — Webhook delivery for email events (opens, clicks, bounces)

How to Set It Up

What Happens When an Issue is Detected

When SendGrid reports a service incident:

  1. Alert24 detects it from the SendGrid status page
  2. Your service status updates (e.g., "SendGrid Email Delivery" moves from Operational to Degraded)
  3. You receive alerts through your notification channels
  4. Your status page updates if the SendGrid service is displayed
  5. Automatic recovery when SendGrid resolves the issue

Common Scenarios

Your app sends transactional emails through SendGrid

Monitor Web API and SMTP Service. If SendGrid's delivery is down, your customers won't receive password resets, order confirmations, or notifications.

You run email marketing campaigns

Monitor Marketing Campaigns. Delivery issues during a campaign launch mean your marketing emails aren't reaching subscribers.

You track email engagement

Monitor Event Webhook. If the webhook service is down, you're not receiving delivery, open, click, and bounce data. This can affect analytics and automation workflows.

Why Monitor Email Delivery?

Email is often invisible infrastructure — you don't notice it until it stops working. When SendGrid has issues:

  • Password resets fail — Customers can't access their accounts
  • Order confirmations don't arrive — Customers worry their purchase didn't go through
  • Notifications are delayed — Time-sensitive alerts arrive late or not at all
  • Marketing campaigns underperform — Delivery issues during a send affect open rates and revenue

Monitoring SendGrid through Alert24 gives you early warning so you can:

  • Temporarily switch to a backup email provider
  • Delay time-sensitive email sends
  • Proactively inform your support team about potential customer complaints
