ComReg (Ireland Commission for Communications Regulation) SMS Sender IDs Registration Required

minor

Jun 19, 2025

Due to changes being introduced by ComReg, (Ireland Commission for Communications Regulation) all organisations that send SMS Messages to Ireland, must register their SMS Sender ID before 3rd July 2025. Failure to complete this registration, will result in messages sent to a +353 destination being sent by a unique display Sender ID – “Likely Scam”. This will be in place from July to October; if you fail to register your Sender IDs before October then these messages will be blocked. This change is being introduced by ComReg and there are important steps you need to take to continue to send SMS messages to Ireland. Actions organisations need to take: • You need to register here Register your SMS Sender ID https://www.comreg.ie/industry/electronic-communications/nuisance-communications/sms-sender-id-registry/ • Initial step is to Sign up to the service – click on Sign-up • Apply to be a Sender ID Owner (default) and populate the required fields • If you do not possess a CRO number then follow the instructions and include relevant alternative registration number and evidence as attachment • Populate the remaining fields and click Next • It is possible to apply for Sender IDs at the point of signing up (this can be done post signing up as well though) • If you wish to do this here, Cisco are classed as an OPA and NOT a 3rd party, so click Next rather than Assign 3rd Party at this stage • Now select Cisco International Limited from the list and click Next • Confirm that you have read and agreed the T’s and C’s and that you’re not a robot and click Submit
